We measure all printer profiling targets using GretagMacbeth SpectroScan and iCColor automated scanning spectrophotometers and X-Rite DTP45 hand-held spectrophotometers. The measurement equipment and any necessary filtration are matched to the characteristics of the target print to give optimum results. When necessary, additional tests are made using Nikon D1X digital camera captures.
The measured data are analyzed by a combination of GretagMacbeth's ProfileMaker Pro and our own spectral processing routines. This allows us to optimize the profile based on the output characteristics of each printer.
Finally, we individually evaluate all our custom profiles both mathematically and visually against a series of test images. This provides final checks on the profile quality. The profiles are hand-tuned at this point as needed.
